Ofcom appoints Anna Bradley to Chair Consumer Panel

10 January 2008

Ofcom announced today the appointment of Anna Bradley as Chairman of its independent Consumer Panel. The Panel advises Ofcom on the consumer interest in telecommunications, broadcasting and spectrum markets.

Ms Bradley was Consumer Affairs Director of the Financial Services Authority (2002-5) having been Chief Executive of the National Consumer Council (1999-2002). She has an MBA and BA from the University of Warwick.

Ms Bradley is currently Non-Executive Chairman of the Soil Association’s Organic Standards Board, a member of the board of Addaction, Britain’s largest drug and alcohol treatment agency and a consultant to Aegon UK, part of one of the world’s largest life insurance and pension companies.

Anna Bradley said “Ofcom’s independent Consumer Panel has a vital role to play in promoting the interests of consumers in increasingly complex communications markets. I look forward to leading this work and ensuring its advice is acted on.”

Ofcom Chairman Lord Currie said “Anna Bradley’s commitment to representing the consumer interest, including her experience at the FSA and at the NCC, make her very well suited for this key role.”

He added, "I would also like to pay tribute to Colette Bowe for her outstanding work over the last four years in leading the Panel."

Anna Bradley’s appointment is effective immediately.
