Our strategic plan 2023-24

16 May 2023

We've published our strategic plan for the forthcoming year, having consulted on the plan in March 2023. We value input from our stakeholders on our future plans, and these have fed into our work programme for the year ahead.

Our strategic plan 2022/23 continues along the same themes as the previous year, with a strong focus on inclusivity and equality in this sector, which we believe is built from a clear, enforceable right to access services in this sector; a strong culture of service and customer service, delivering to consistently high standards and listening regularly to consumers, co-designing services to meet their evolving needs.

Our strategic plan 2023-24 - What policy areas do we plan to focus on?

Affordability of communications services and consumer debt - communications services should be affordable to all, by right and consumers who are struggling financially should be aware of the support available to them to help avoid falling or falling further into debt.

Postal services - we remain focused on ensuring that postal services operators regulated by Ofcom provide a reliable service and treat consumers and citizens fairly.

Migration to voice-over IP (VoIP) - we continue to engage with Ofcom, industry and others on the impacts of VoIP on consumers and citizens and micro-businesses, particularly consumers with specific support requirements such as telecare users; and highlight the benefit of implementing a wide-scale communications campaign.

Digital privacy and ethics - we believe that all consumers who are able to go online should be able to do so safely and confidently.

2G/3G switch-off - we are alert to the possible impacts of the 2G/3G switch-off on consumers, citizens and micro-businesses, particularly those living and working in rural and remote areas, or have and rely on older or second hand mobile handsets. We will continue to encourage Ofcom and industry to raise awareness of the impending switch-off and possible impacts on services and equipment.
